I’m popping in for a quick second to share with you my new favorite healthy habit. I always seem to be teetering on the jarringly thin line of living life as a health nut and life as a savage. In the midst of my beer and burgers, I am faithful to many nourishing practices for optimal health. I believe variety is the spice of life (this and “different strokes for different folks” are my two favorite sayings), but a healthy balance is what’s important.. I love placing lots of emphasis on things that make me feel good and am constantly changing up my health routines. (I just love the wellness life!!!). The amount of happiness spending loads of $$$ at a health food store brings me is priceless 🙂
One thing I’ve been doing at home is preparing a drink containing some of my favorite healthy gems and having it a few times a day. (Typically before meals, but it doesn’t have to be.) The main ingredient in this wellness concoction is apple cider vinegar. If you aren’t already aware, apple cider vinegar is the shit. Since it has undergone fermentation, ACV is contains healthy probiotics and enzymes that are amazing for our gut health and digestion. Organic, unfiltered, raw apple cider vinegar also contains strands of “mother” proteins, enzymes and bacteria that are responsible for the many apple cider vinegar health benefits.
Some apple cider vinegar benefits include: enhances weight loss, improves digestion, regulates blood sugar, increases immunity, optimizes acidity in gut, and promotes clearer skin. I love the way it makes me feel. Sometimes I’ll do a straight shot of ACV diluted with a bit of water for a slight boost of energy. I then relish on the fact that it’s giving my gut some lurv and carry on loving life. (Guys, remember almost ALL disease starts in our gut!!! We gotta keep it healthy. Hippocrates said it first.) I see elixir shots of the variation I drink each morning sold at many health places. Here is the apple cider vinegar drink I have each morning. It’s my take on fire cider, and it’s healthily delicious.
Full Drink Recipe:
1/2 inch piece turmeric
1/2 inch piece ginger
2 tbsp ACV
Small spoonful of raw, local honey
1 lemon wedge
1 tbsp coconut oil
Sprinkle of cinnmaon
Boil turmeric and ginger in water, stir in all ingredients, sip and change your life.
It’s committing to small actions like this each day that make me feel fulfilled and loyal to this health journey. This may not be my forever routine, but for now it makes me feel amazing. Health evolves, life evolves, we evolve. It’s ~nature~ Now go get yourself some ACV and tell me how amazing this drink is.
