3 Simple Heath Hacks That Can Change Your Life

Sometimes it’s the simple changes we make that have the biggest impact on our lives. Looking to step up your health game? These three health hacks are so easy and anyone can do them. 

  1. Switch Up Your Morning Sweetener

Some people have no problem with drinking black coffee or tea (hey), but I totally get why a touch of sweetness makes your drink so much more enjoyable.

Unfortunately, the standard sweeteners that commonly go with coffee or tea are straight garbage. (Enough with trying to convince people Splenda is healthy *eye roll*). But have faith, there are alternative sweet options. Instead of sweetening your morning drink with processed sugars or artificial sweeteners, try using honey instead. This is a simple health hack that is widely beneficial. Honey, one of the oldest natural sweeteners on Earth, is filled with antioxidants, vitamins and essential minerals that help keep our bodies energized and healthy. I started putting a tiny spoonful of honey in my coffee and it changed my mornings in a delicious way.

Be sure you’re using the right quality honey. To make sure you’re getting all of it’s goodness: use raw, organic, local honey. Raw honey contains the pollen, enzymes and micronutrients that are usually destroyed by heat when conventional honey is processed.

  1. Drink out of Glass

For some reason, I’ve always been obsessed with water. I typically drink so much more than anyone around me, thus my excessive bathroom breaks. But I just always want water, maybe because I’m a Pisces ;p

It’s easy for me to drink liters of water a day, but for a lot of people it has to be an active effort. Have you made it a goal to drink more water? If you have, you may want to put down the plastic. It might sound surprising, but drinking out of glass is much different than plastic. Many plastic water bottles contain a chemical, BPA, that can affect the taste of the water (not to mention the quality). Drinking out of glass is chemical free, and offers the purest taste of water.

Try to experiment with only drinking water out of glass and see what changes. In my experience, once people begin using glass water bottles, they drink more water than ever and never want to go back to plastic. I love my glass water bottle so much I even have it listed as one of my favorite products. Super simple, but awesome way to stay hydrated. This is one I use, but there are tons of similar and affordable ones out there.

  1. Get Fresh Air

Breathing fresh air is one of the most important things we can do for our health. According to the EPA, our indoor environment is two to five times more toxic than our outdoor environment. Yeek. Take the time to step outside for a short walk each day, especially if you’re at an indoor job. When I worked in an office, I made sure to step outside for at least 15 minutes once a day even in the winter. (This was for the sake of fresh air, but also my sanity.)

Another great initiative is to get indoor plants to increase the oxygen flow in your environment. Some low maintenance indoor plants include aloe, spider plants, English ivy and peace lily. Yes,#plantlife.
